Cloud9 Faces Roster Overhaul Ahead of 2024-2025 Dota 2 Season

Cloud9 is preparing for a significant roster overhaul as they aim to remain competitive in Dota 2 during the 2024-2025 season. Once a dominant force in North American Dota 2, Cloud9 has had a tumultuous history with the game, stepping away from it several times before making a comeback this year by acquiring the Entity roster just before The International 2024 (TI13). Their return after a four-year hiatus was marked by an impressive top-six finish at the prestigious tournament.

However, the post-TI roster shuffle has not been kind to them. Following the tournament, two players departed the team. Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov, the position 4 support, left first to join BetBoom Team. Shortly after, Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov, the team’s carry, was recruited by Gaimin Gladiators. A week later, mid laner Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko also announced his departure.

Cloud9 expressed their gratitude to No[o]ne on social media, stating, “Today, we say goodbye to No[o]ne, who once said he was trying to ‘[hide] from the world in video games,’ but instead, he showed the world his immense talent and dedication.”

As for the upcoming Dota 2 calendar, No[o]ne is set to compete at DreamLeague Season 24, starting at the end of the month. He qualified for the $1,000,000 tournament with the BandaNoon stack through the Eastern European brackets. However, his former team, Cloud9, will not participate in DreamLeague or the upcoming BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024, which begins on the 19th.

Soon, a new qualifier leg will take place, alongside several LAN tournaments scheduled for the remainder of the year. Next month, BLAST will host another $1 million tournament in Copenhagen, Denmark, with ten invited teams yet to be announced. Meanwhile, ESL One will head to Thailand in December for ESL One Bangkok 2024, featuring a total of 12 teams.
