Manchester United Reportedly Open to Loan Offers for Antony in January

Manchester United are reportedly willing to entertain offers for Brazilian winger Antony during the upcoming January transfer window. Antony, who joined the Red Devils from Ajax in 2022 for a hefty £86m fee, has struggled to secure a consistent spot in Erik ten Hag’s squad. Despite expectations that the 24-year-old would become a key player under his former Ajax boss, his impact has been limited.

Although Antony has made 86 appearances in all competitions, many of those have been as a substitute. This season, he has barely featured, with the majority of his game time coming in the EFL Cup and just 49 minutes in other competitions. His output in the Premier League has been minimal, having contributed only five goals and three assists in 56 appearances since his arrival.

United Considering Loan Options
According to reports from Football Insider, Manchester United are open to loan offers in January, with the potential for an option to buy included in any deal. The club is said to be keen on offloading Antony’s wages from their books while accepting that recouping his transfer fee in the short term is unlikely. Antony’s contract runs until 2027, leaving United in a difficult position to minimize their financial losses.

Potential Suitors for Antony
Ajax, Antony’s former club, have been touted as a potential destination, offering him a chance to rediscover his form in the Eredivisie. Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have also been linked with interest, although it is unclear whether Antony would secure a regular starting spot at either club.

Antony will hope to play a part in Manchester United’s Europa League match against Fenerbahce later this week, but his long-term future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.
