Brennan Johnson joined Tottenham Hotspur from Nottingham Forest in September 2023.

The dynamic winger made a significant impact in his first season at Spurs, contributing 10 assists and scoring five goals in his 32 Premier League appearances, 23 of which were starts. In total, Brennan made 34 appearances across all competitions during the 2023/24 season.

The Wales international made an exciting start to his Spurs career, debuting as a substitute in a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in September 2023, before earning his first start in the intense north London derby at the Emirates. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury in that match against Arsenal, sidelining him for a month. However, after returning against Fulham on October 23, Brennan went on to either start or come off the bench in Tottenham’s remaining 30 Premier League games. Memorable moments included a late winner against Brighton in February 2024 and a goal in a dominant 4-0 victory over Aston Villa in March.

Brennan’s 10th and final assist of the season came in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Sheffield United on the final weekend, making him only the fourth player to reach double figures in assists during their debut season for the club in the Premier League era.

Born in Nottingham, Brennan joined Nottingham Forest’s academy at the age of eight and steadily worked his way up to make his first-team debut against West Brom in August 2019 in the Championship.

He enjoyed a standout loan spell at Lincoln City in 2020/21, scoring 13 goals to help the team reach the League One Play-Off Final. His performances at Lincoln also earned him his first senior cap for Wales in a friendly against the USA in November 2020.

Back at Forest, Brennan played a key role in the club’s promotion campaign during the 2021/22 season. He netted 19 goals across all competitions, including 16 in the Championship, and scored in both legs of the play-off semi-final against Sheffield United, ultimately helping Forest secure their return to the Premier League. His outstanding season saw him win multiple accolades, including EFL Young Player of the Month for September, Championship Player of the Month for April, and the Championship Young Player of the Season award.

In his debut Premier League season with Forest, Brennan was ever-present, scoring eight goals in 38 appearances and adding two more in Forest’s run to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

A versatile international, Brennan has represented Wales at every youth level and earned over 20 senior caps. He was part of the Wales squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In March 2024, he and Ben Davies experienced heartbreak as Wales lost a penalty shootout to Poland in their Euro 2024 play-off final. By the end of the 2023/24 season, Brennan had amassed 28 caps for his country.
