Experienced goalkeeper Fraser Forster joined Tottenham Hotspur on July 1, 2022, after his contract with Southampton expired.

A calm and commanding presence in goal, Fraser’s 2023/24 season was impacted by injuries. He missed our summer tour due to a back issue and later suffered a fractured foot that prematurely ended his season.

With Guglielmo Vicario in excellent form, Fraser made only one appearance for the team during the League Cup match against Fulham in August 2023, bringing his total appearances for the club to 21 across all competitions.

Despite limited playtime, Fraser’s leadership in the dressing room and at Hotspur Way was acknowledged, leading to a new contract signed in December 2023 that extends his tenure until the summer of 2025.

Prior to joining us, Fraser had made 134 Premier League appearances and kept 42 clean sheets, having signed for Southampton from Celtic in August 2014.

His career began at Newcastle United, where he had loan spells at Stockport County, Bristol Rovers, and Norwich City, contributing to the latter’s promotion to the Championship.

In 2010, Fraser joined Celtic on a season-long loan and returned for another loan spell the following year, which turned into a permanent transfer in 2012. During his time in Scotland, he made numerous UEFA Champions League appearances and enjoyed considerable success, winning three Scottish Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups.

Fraser joined Southampton in 2014 and was awarded the Premier League Player of the Month for February 2016 after an impressive run of performances. In the 2016/17 season, he played a pivotal role in guiding the Saints to the League Cup final, where they finished as runners-up.

He returned to Celtic for a season-long loan in 2019/20, lifting a fourth Scottish Premiership title, a third Scottish Cup, and the Scottish League Cup as part of a treble-winning side.

In his first season at Spurs, 2022/23, Fraser made 20 appearances in all competitions. He debuted in November during a League Cup match against Nottingham Forest and played his first Premier League game against Brentford on Boxing Day, breaking Hugo Lloris’s streak of 101 consecutive starts. Fraser was called upon 18 more times in the latter half of the season, playing more minutes than the club captain.

His initial run included nine matches in all competitions, featuring a return to Champions League action against Milan after Hugo suffered a knee injury in February. Although Hugo returned in April, Fraser took over again after Hugo sustained a hip injury against Newcastle, which ended the latter’s season. He started the last six matches of the campaign, totaling 20 appearances for the season, with 14 in the Premier League.

Fraser’s performances earned him a recall to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the March internationals, although he did not add to his six caps.

On the international stage, Fraser has represented England six times, making his debut in November 2013, with his latest call-up in March 2022. He was selected for the 2014 World Cup and was part of the 23-man squad for the UEFA European Championship in France in 2016.
