Sergio Reguilón joined Tottenham Hotspur from Real Madrid in September 2020.

In August 2022, Sergio went on loan to Atletico Madrid for the 2022/23 season, where he made 12 appearances across all competitions. On September 1, 2023, he joined Manchester United on loan, featuring in 12 matches before returning to Spurs in January 2024. He then moved on loan to Brentford for the remainder of the campaign.

A product of Real Madrid’s youth system, Sergio had two loan spells with UD Logroñés in Spain’s Segunda División B between 2015 and 2017, before returning to become a regular for Real Madrid’s ‘Castilla’ team in the same division, captaining them in several matches during the 2017/18 season.

He made his first-team debut for Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League against CSKA Moscow in October 2018, followed by his La Liga debut the next month against Real Valladolid. He was a regular member of the squad throughout the 2018/19 season, making 22 appearances and contributing to the team’s FIFA Club World Cup triumph.

Sergio’s breakout season came during a loan spell at Sevilla in 2019/20. He made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and helping the team win the UEFA Europa League and secure fourth place in La Liga. He started in Sevilla’s 3-2 victory over Internazionale Milano in the Europa League final and earned a spot in the UEFA Europa League Squad of the Season.

In his first season with Spurs, Sergio made a strong impression with his energetic displays down the left flank. He featured in 36 matches in all competitions during the 2020/21 season, including 26 Premier League starts, and provided three assists in the league.

Sergio’s performances during 2019/20 earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team in October 2019, and he won his first cap in September 2020, starting in Spain’s 4-0 win over Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League. By the end of the 2021/22 season, he had accumulated six senior caps for Spain.

In the 2021/22 season, Sergio started as a left-back and later transitioned to left wing-back in Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 system. He scored his first goal for Spurs and the winner against Leeds United in Conte’s first home Premier League match in November. However, his season was marred by injuries, with the final setback occurring in April, which prematurely ended his campaign.

Sergio scored another goal in Spurs’ 5-0 win over Everton in March, finishing the 2021/22 season with 31 appearances in all competitions, 25 of which came in the Premier League. Over two seasons, he made a total of 67 appearances for the club.
